Blasting Medias

We utilize a variety of blasting medias depending on the project. Whether you need blasting on concrete, wood, brick, or some other surface, we can help you choose the right media for the job. All of our blasting medias are environmentally friendly and some can even be recycled indefinitely.

Sand Blasting

Sand is one of the more abrasive of our medias. We use an environmentally friendly and recyclable sand called Green Diamond. Green Diamond’s sands contain no free silica, eliminating the risk of respiratory silicosis, making this a product that is safe for those who and handle it. This combined with its inherent properties of hardness and durability makes Green Diamond’s sand one that will not only perform well but will also treat you, your employees, and the environment in a safe healthy manner. Click here for more information…

Soda Blasting

Soda Blasting uses sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) as a medium to remove surface contaminants without causing damage to the surfaces being cleaned. The unique properties of sodium bicarbonate allow it to remove paint, grease, mold, oil, soot, and other contaminants without damaging glass, chrome, and even thin sheet metal. In addition to it’s non-abrasive nature, the sodium bicarbonate we use is also non-toxic and water soluble which makes it a great choice for restaurants with food safety concerns. Click here for more information…

Walnut Blasting

Walnut shell blasting is a gentle, non-corrosive, environmentally friendly method of removing paint, dirt, grime, mold and smoke residue from almost any surface including metal, wood, aluminum, brass, stone, plastic, masonry and tile. We are able to offer a range of consistency from Flour Grades with an Extra Fine 40/60 mesh up through a Course blend of 8/12. Walnut shell blasting can be aggressive or gentle, with minimal impact to the blasting surface. The micro finish or gel coat/primer coat will remain intact, and any soft surfaces will be left with a smooth dull finish. Click here for more information…

Shot Blasting

Shot blasting is an environmentally friendly and cost effective method typically used in: concrete repair and restoration, general construction, flooring, painting & coating, bridges & highways, airports, remediation, demolition & renovation, utility, marine/shipyards, storage tank maintenance and others. Shot blasting leaves the surface immediately ready for the application of coatings or overlays, eliminating drying time and costly disposal procedures associated with other surface preparation methods. Click here for more information…
Scarifying is another part of the shot-blasting and surface preparation process that we offer. Scarifying is typically used for repairing common slab problems, for example: curled joints, high spots, uneven slabs, trowel marks, damage due to weather, and other similar types of damage.

Dry Ice Blasting

Dry ice blasting is a relatively new cleaning process that uses compressed air to accelerate solid carbon dioxide (CO2) dry ice pellets to literally strip surfaces of a multitude of residues, including: mold and dirt, ink and paint, glue, food and grease, oil, rubber mold release agent, and numerous other contaminants. Since dry ice pellets convert from a solid to a vapor when propelled against a substrate it leaves no residue or toxic waste behind. This lets you skip the clean-up problems associated with other cleaning methods and generally results in a much faster cleaning process, in many cases up to 75% faster.
Due to the relative softness of solid CO2 dry ice blasting is non-abrasive, which means it is the ideal choice when no surface roughness is desired. This also means that occasionally dry ice is not abrasive enough to get the job done. Our experts here at Crystal Soda Blast are happy help you decide which media is the right choice for your particular project.  Click here for more information…
